About
Why this guide exists
World of Natural Hair is a working guide to natural hair, written for Johannesburg and useful anywhere. Instead of sorting hair by curl pattern alone, it reads hair in four states: loose afro, transitioning, protective natural, and protective extensions. Each state carries its own risks — moisture loss, breakage at the line of demarcation, tension at the hairline, takedown damage — so each one gets its own maintenance routine, product boundaries and advice on which services to ask for.
The Hair Cue checker turns three questions about what you are seeing and doing into a targeted read on your hair today: what is most likely going on, what to change this week, what to keep watching, and which guide module or stylist service fits. Saved checks build a history, so you can tell whether a routine change is actually helping.
The stylist directory is the other half of the work. Every listed professional is checked against an eight-point verification matrix covering hygiene certificates, tool sterilisation, no added fibre, tension protocol, patch tests, consultation before service, documented aftercare and complaint history. Every check after that is logged on their public profile, so trust is something you can read rather than something you have to guess. The product shelf judges products by their ingredient lists against the four states instead of by marketing, and the community gallery lets people share progress photos, comment and compare notes.
The app is built and maintained by an independent team based in Sandton, Johannesburg, who wanted the kind of guidance usually passed around in group chats written down properly and kept current. It is educational, not medical — for scalp conditions, see a dermatologist.
